How We Create and Maintain CNA Practice Questions
Our commitment to accuracy, evidence-based content, and continuous improvement
Every question at CNA Plus Academy goes through a rigorous multi-layer review process before reaching our students.
Quality content is what sets CNA Plus Academy apart from other online CNA preparation resources. Superior exam materials take time to research, write, review, and refine.
Our goal is simple: help CNA students pass their certification exam on the first attempt by providing practice questions that accurately reflect the real exam in both content and difficulty.
1. Content Creation
Our practice questions are created by Winona Suzanne Ball, RN, MHS -- our Nursing Adviser with over 30 years of clinical experience, including extensive work in nursing homes and senior assisted living facilities.
Suzanne researches state CNA exam requirements and the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) guidelines to identify topics most likely to appear on the exam.
Each question is designed to:
- Test practical knowledge and critical thinking, not just memorization
- Reflect real-world patient care scenarios
- Align with current state and NNAAP competency areas
- Include detailed rationales explaining why each answer is correct or incorrect
2. Source Verification
Our content is based on authoritative nursing and healthcare sources:
- NNAAP -- National Nurse Aide Assessment Program guidelines and skill lists
- State Boards of Nursing -- State-specific CNA requirements and regulations
- CDC guidelines -- For infection control and safety protocols
- OSHA standards -- For workplace safety and body mechanics
- CNA training textbooks -- Standard references used in accredited CNA programs
3. User Feedback Integration
We actively incorporate feedback from our users to improve question quality.
Every practice question includes a “Found a mistake?” link that allows students to report potential errors or unclear wording. Our editorial team reviews each submission and:
- Investigates the reported issue against current sources
- Updates the question or rationale if an error is confirmed
- Clarifies wording if the question caused confusion
- Documents the change in our internal revision log
This feedback loop has helped us identify and correct hundreds of issues, making our question bank more accurate with each update.
4. Continuous Updates
Healthcare knowledge evolves, and so does our content. We update our practice questions when:
- State boards update CNA exam requirements or skill checklists
- Clinical guidelines change (e.g., updated infection control protocols)
- NNAAP revises its assessment standards
- Evidence-based practices shift in long-term care or patient assistance
All updates go through the same multi-layer review process as new content to ensure accuracy.
5. CNA Exam Coverage
Our question bank covers all major CNA competency areas tested on state certification exams:
- Basic Nursing Skills
- Personal Care Skills
- Mental Health and Social Service Needs
- Role of the Nurse Aide
- Safety and Emergency Procedures
- Infection Control
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills
- Resident Rights
- Legal and Ethical Behaviors
Questions are mapped to these competency areas to ensure comprehensive exam preparation.
